Corporate tax obligations in Côte d'Ivoire: what every executive should know

Setting up a business in Côte d'Ivoire comes with a set of tax obligations that every executive must know and comply with. Misunderstanding them can lead to severe penalties, or even suspension of operations.

1. Tax identification

Every company must hold a Taxpayer Account Number (NCC) issued by the Directorate General of Taxes. This number is required for any administrative or banking transaction.

2. Choosing the tax regime

There are three main regimes depending on turnover:

  • Micro-enterprise regime: turnover ≤ 50 million FCFA
  • Simplified real regime: turnover between 50 and 200 million FCFA
  • Normal real regime: turnover > 200 million FCFA

The choice of tax regime determines the method of taxation and the filings required.

3. Periodic tax filings

The main obligations include: VAT (monthly or quarterly), corporate income tax (BIC), tax on income from securities (IRVM), and parafiscal levies (business license tax, etc.).

4. Keeping compliant accounts

Accurate bookkeeping compliant with SYSCOHADA is required. The tax authority may carry out an audit at any time.

ANKHURA CONSEIL's advice: A regular tax audit helps prevent errors and legally optimize your tax position.
